The SmarTech 27YC6 is an antenna that allows multiple configurations: can be used independently as a 3 element Yagi in horizontal polarization, or as a 3 element Yagi in vertical polarization.
A vertical directional antenna does not receive noise like vertical omnidirectional antennas since signals (or better, "noise") coming from unwanted directions (side, back) are strongly attenuated. This is a precious "plus" for vertical polarization activity, an invaluable advantage both for direct traffic and DX activity.
A misalignment of polarization of 90 degrees degrades signals up to 30 dB. So, owning an antenna that allows both polarizations meand being able to work with the maximum efficiency in both situatuins.
27YC6 can be used also in slant polarization (feeding appropriately both radiators). Slant polarization is particularly suited to situations where signals are not perfectly horizontal or vertical, so fading effects are strongly minimized.
Radiation patterns show an interesting lobe profile in vertical polarization. The E plane has a particular width over a wide range of elevations (take off angles), useful for both long path DX and short path E-sporadic mode.
This antenna has a light but strong structure, particularly resistant to very severe mechanical loads. Thanks to the choice of the best materials and the specific sizing of each part, the structure has a strong elasticity and resistance even to the most energic wind loads.
MATERIALS
The main structure of the antenna is made of aluminum alloy EN AW-6060/82 UNI9006 / 1
(Anticorodal 60/100), which gives greater durability against the most
aggressive atmospheric agents (ice, water, UV rays, fine dust, acid
rain), and a better resistance to the mechanical stresses of the wind.
SmarTech antennas are also supplied, depending on the models and specific mechanical requirements, with parts in Aisi 304 stainless steel
(Austenitic Stainless Steel UNI / EN 10088) and parts in steel
compliant with the resistance classes designated by the EN ISO 898-1
standard: 2013.
The antenna is designed to achieve maximum electrical efficiency and the best mechanical strength and durability, thanks to the quality of the materials used.
It is also suitable for installation in particularly aggressive environments, such as high altitude mountainous areas or coastal areas with a highly corrosive atmosphere.
SmarTech antennas are made with materials and technological solutions that minimize parasitic resistances (which produce unwanted RF dissipations) along the entire radio frequency signal path.
